“Why it is disastrous for men to marry a woman older than them” – Reno Omokri reveals

September 06, 2023 0

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has revealed why it is unwise for men who want a monogamous marriage to marry a woman older than them.

Taking to the micro-blogging platform X, Reno argued that men maintain their sexual libido well into their 80s and even 90s, whereas women tend to lose their sex drive after menopause.

According to him, if a woman is older than her husband and loses her libido, it may lead the man to cheat with a younger woman.

He added that it is preferrable for men to marry a woman who is way younger than them, instead of their agemate or an older woman

The controversial social media commentator wrote,

“If you are a man with a healthy libido, it is risky to marry a woman who is of the same age as you. It is also risky, but less so, to marry a woman who is just a few years younger than you. However, IF you plan on a monogamous marriage, then it will be disastrous to marry a lady who is older than you. If you both agree that you can be polygamous, then it is not a problem. You say you are in love? Listen, love cannot control your libido. You, as a man will retain your libido into your eighties and possibly nineties if God spares your life. But women do not retain theirs that
long. I do not think it is fair. But gender libido imbalance is a fact of life. So, if you marry a woman who is your age mate or older than you, and she loses her libido after menopause, but you retain yours, what are you going to do? Start disturbing Unilag girls? That is why there should be a healthy age gap between husband and wife for a viable marriage.”

Enugu passes anti-open grazing bill

September 02, 2021 1

Enugu State House of Assembly Thursday joined other state assemblies in the South East to pass into law the anti-open grazing bill.

The bill which is for a Law to Prohibit Open Grazing, Regulate Cattle Ranching and for Connected Purposes was passed at the House sitting following the consideration of the report of the public hearing, presented by the Chairman, Joint Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources, Judiciary, Public Petitions, Ethics and Privileges, Youth, Sports and Security Matters, Hon. Amaka Ugwueze.

The House stated that the law to be cited as “Enugu State Prohibition of Open Grazing, Regulate Cattle Ranching and Connected Purposes (HB.7), 2021,” would ensure security and peace in the state.

The joint committee had Tuesday held a public hearing on the bill where residents of the state represented by the traditional rulers, town union leaders, leaders of various groups, bodies and institutions gave the House the support to go ahead with the passage of the bill.

Before the passage of the bill, the House had received and accepted the report from Hon. Ugwueze who said that “all the oral and written submissions received by the committee were in support of immediate passage of the bill,” and dissolved into Committee of the whole House to consider the report alongside the bill, culminating in its third reading and passage.

Speaking after the passage of the bill which is a 16-page document with 36 sections, the Speaker, Hon. Edward Ubosi, emphasised that the bill was not targeted at anybody or group but for the good of the people of the state and others that live in it.

BREAKING news: Buhari replaces two non-career Ambassadors

July 08, 2020 0

The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan on Wednesday received a request from President Muhammadu Buhari for the replacement and confirmation of two non-career Ambassadors-designate.

The President set to replace the earlier nomination of Mr. Oboro Effiong Akpabio and Brigadier General Bwala Yusuf Bukar from Akwa-Ibom and Borno State, respectively.

A statement of Ahmad’s spokesperson, Ezrel Tabiowo quoted the letter as saying: “In accordance with Section 171(1)(2)(c) and subsection (4) of the 1999 Constitution as amended, I have the honour to forward for confirmation by the Senate, the appointment of Mr. John J. Usanga and Air Commodore Peter Anda Bakiya Gana (rtd) from Akwa-Ibom and Niger State respectively, as non-career Ambassadors-designate.

“The Senate is kindly requested to recall my earlier submission of Mr. Oboro Effiong Akpabio and Brigadier General Bwala Yusuf Bukar from Akwa-Ibom and Borno State respectively, vide letter dated 17th June 2020, I substitute Mr. Oboro Effiong Akpabio with Mr. John J. Usanga (Akwa-Ibom State). I replace Brigadier General Bwala Yusuf Bukar (Borno State) with Air Commodore Peter Anda Bakiya Gana (Niger State).”

But coming under Order 43 of the Senate Standing Rules, the lawmaker representing FCT in the upper chamber, Senator Philip Aduda, protested the exclusion of a non-career Ambassador from the FCT.

According to him, the only FCT indigene presently serving as a non-career Ambassador in Sierra Leone, Hafiz Obada, was not re-appointed.
“For the ambassadorial nomination for the non-career, nothing has been said about the one for FCT. It has been silent and we have an Ambassador who is already sitting in Sierra Leone, his name is Ambassador Hafiz Obada. We don’t know what becomes of his fate because other states have been told to remain in their stations or they have been re-appointed.

“My issue is that at this time FCT will now lose an Ambassador. It is worrisome to me and the people of the FCT. Sitting here, names have been called for all other states except FCT and we have one.

“Now that particular non-career Ambassadorial slot for the FCT is being taken away from us and is being killed, otherwise we are also entitled to have, and that is what I have consistently said since this list came out.

“So, Mr. President, I hope something can be done to this to help the people of the FCT. We don’t get Ministerial nomination, we don’t get so many of these things, but the small ones that we have are about to be taken away which should not be so”, Aduda said.

Lawan, in his remark, described the lawmaker’s complaint as valid, saying it is constitutional for an indigene of the FCT to be appointed as a non-career Ambassador by the President.

“I sympathize with the FCT but I know there were twelve non-career Ambassadors who were retained. I don’t know if you have an FCT indigene among those twelve, probably you should check that to see if you would see any FCT indigene, but your complaint is very valid.

Lawan said: “What I’m going to advise is maybe we need to take more political action, so that it doesn’t always come like it is an after-thought. The FCT is to be treated like a state, that’s what the Constitution states, so you deserve one like any other state deserves”,.

DSS Arrests EFCC Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu

July 06, 2020 0

Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has been arrested by the Department of State Services, arrested at the Wuse II office of the DSS on Monday afternoon now undergoing the interrogation at the DSS Headquarters in Aso Drive.

He was arrested over allegations that he owns four properties and that he was allegedly transferring funds abroad through a third party.
The DSS in a 2016 report revealed that Magu was living in a N40m mansion.

“Magu is currently occupying a residence rented for N40m at N20m per annum. This accommodation was not paid [for] from the commission’s finances, but by one Umar Mohammed, air commodore retired, a questionable businessman who has subsequently been arrested by the secret service.

“For the furnishing of the residence, Magu enlisted the Federal Capital Development Authority to award a contract to Africa Energy, a company owned by the same Mohammed, to furnish the residence at the cost of N43m.

“Investigations show that the acting EFCC chairman regularly embarked on official and private trips through a private jet owned by Mohammed.

“Furthermore, the EFCC boss has so far maintained a high-profile lifestyle. This is exemplified by his preference for first-class air travels. On 24 June, 2016, he flew Emirate airlines first-class to Saudi Arabia to perform lesser hajj at the cost of N2.9m. This is in spite of Mr President’s directive to all public servants to fly economy class.

DSS report said “Magu has fostered a beneficial relationship with Mohammed who by his confession approaches clients for possible exploitation, favours and associated returns,”
Magu is yet to be confirmed as the substantive chairman of the EFCC despite occupying the position in acting capacity for many years.

Social-Economic Right Accountability Project (SERAP)
We've asked President Buhari to direct the AGF Mr Malami and appropriate anti-corruption agencies to urgently probe allegations that over N300bn of public funds are missing, mismanaged, diverted or stolen, SERAP also urged Abubakar Malami and anti-corruption agencies to  the N300bn said to have been stolen and mismanaged as contained in 2017 reports.

SERAP said: “Any failure to promptly investigate the allegations and prosecute suspected perpetrators would breach Nigeria’s anti-corruption legislation, including the Public Procurement Act, the 1999 Nigerian Constitution (as amended) and the country’s obligations including under the UN Convention against Corruption and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights to which Nigeria is a state party.”

The letter, read in part: “It would also mean that Nigeria is failing to fulfil the obligations under the covenant to use its “maximum of available resources” to progressively realize and achieve basic economic and social rights, including access of Nigerians to public services and goods like quality education, healthcare, clean water and regular electricity supply, as well as the right to honest public services.”

GOVERNOR WIKE THREATENS TO SANCTION ERRING PROJECT CONTRACTORS.

July 04, 2020 0

GOVERNOR WIKE THREATENS TO SANCTION ERRING PROJECT CONTRACTORS.
*To review contract of 5000 capacity Auditorium at NYSC camp

Rivers state governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that contractors who fail to abide by the contractual agreement in handling projects in the state will be sanctioned.

Governor Wike said it is unacceptable for contractors, particularly those who have received full payment before the COVID-19 pandemic to use it as an excuse not to deliver their projects on time or compromise set standard.

The governor issued the warning shortly after inspecting projects located in Eleme and Tai local government areas of the state.

Governor Wike said while the structural work of the five thousand capacity auditorium at the National Youth service Corps orientation camp in Nonwa is commendable, the contract will however be reviewed.

According to the governor, the review has become necessary because the contractor refused to make the furnishing of the auditorium an integral part of the original design.

"I don't know how anybody would design a modern structure and begin to talk about terazzo floor. You can't also construct a building without talking about furnishing. These things have to go hand in hand.

"I'll make sure that the right thing is done. We have paid 100% and what I have seen I'm not satisfied.

"Again, the contractor has no reason to use covid-19 as reason for the delay. Payment was made to him In November 2019, and covid-19 started in march 2020.

"We have to be very strict with contractors; those who do not want to fulfil their contractual agreement, government will take its stand and sanction them even if the supervising ministry or agency may not have done very well," he added.

Governor Wike also said the various projects at the NYSC orientation camp serve as support to federal agencies located in the state as they continue to render services to Rivers people.

"They are here to serve Rivers people. There is need to give them support. We have done the internal roads within the NYSC camp, and we have completely renovated the entire building structure for them," he emphasised.

The governor who also inspected the progress of work at the Community Secondary School in Eteo community in Eleme local government area said his administration has projects sited in every local government of the state and that he is committed to completing them.

Governor Wike said a directive has been given to the contractor handling the community school to add the construction of a library for reading activities and a chapel auditorium for regular religious worship.

Femi Fani-Kayode: An open letter to Jagaban

June 25, 2020 0
Femi Fani-Kayode                                                  Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu(Jagaban)
“Even the obstacles on my way, I predict them before those that will bring them will start to think about them. I plan for betrayal, I plan for backstabbing, I also plan for reunion & forgiveness long before they happen.I expect nothing, I expect anything, I expect everything”- Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

My dearest Jagaban,

You know very well that I have always liked and respected you. You will also recall that a few years ago I warned you that everything that is being done to you today would eventually be done to you given the choices you made at the time.

I bear you no malice or ill-will but in view of what is happening in your political party and given the fact that your good friend, co-conspirator and collaborator, President Muhammadu Buhari, has finally thrown you under the bus and dumped you, I am constrained to write the following.

The bitter truth is that you predicted NOTHING and you saw NOTHING. The only thing you saw were your own vain delusions and insatiable greed and the only thing you felt and that moved you was your blind ambition.

You sold your body, spirit and soul to the enemy and betrayed your people even though we warned you over and over again that those you were dining with were far smarter and far more astute than you.

Yet even though all the signs were there you dismissed our concerns, vilified us, treated us with contempt, demonized us and sought to destroy us.

Now the chickens have come home to roost and the writing is on the wall. The signs are there for all to see. You betrayed and sold Lagos. You betrayed and sold the South West. You betrayed and sold the South East. You betrayed and sold the South South. You betrayed and sold the Middle Belt. You betrayed and sold the North East. You betrayed and sold the North West. You betrayed and sold the Muslims and you betrayed and sold the Christians.

Simply put you betrayed and sold EVERYTHING and EVERYONE in Nigeria just to feed and satisfy your psychotic obsession and compulsive ambition.

Like Icarus the Greek, you flew too high and too close to the sun with your wax wings, puffed up and fuelled by your hubris and pride and now you shall meet your nemesis. The spiritual wound that has been inflicted on you is irreversible and terminal and there is no going back.

The dark clouds that lie ahead of you are thick, ugly, frightful, violent and impassable: you cannot make it through them safely or survive them. Your enemies have dug a pit for you and you have already fallen into it.

They have finally stripped you naked, grabbed you by your balls and taken everything from you.

You have lost your mystique, honor, glory, self-respect, following, clout, pride, reputation and so much more. You have also lost control of the political party that you conceived, formed, nurtured and built. The APC was your baby and now they have taken it from you and are set to kill it.

They fooled you, used you, dimped you and humiliated you and now they are going to expose you, rubbish you, malign you, break you, crucify you, investigate you and utterly crush you.

You dreamed of being Vice President in 2015 and you failed. You are dreaming of being President in 2023 and you will fail.
In all your plans what you failed to appreciate is that God alone rules in the affairs of men. You refused to acknowledge or accept the fact that the Presidency of Nigeria can only be given by God and He gives it to whom He deems fit by prophecy and divine decree.

It is not about money and power and if it were Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Yar’adua, Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, who had neither of the two before being respectively elected as President, would never had made it.

It is about God and God alone. It is for Him alone to give. It is about His purpose, His will, His counsel, His plan and His glory.

He OWNS the Presidency and the minute any man or woman attempts to usurp His role and think that he or she can buy it or manoeuvre his or her way into it by the usage of political intrigues, guile, sagacity, wisdom, power, knowledge, money or anything else, the Lord disqualifies and rejects him.

Such a person will fail woefully and may even end up losing everything he or she values and cherishes in his futile quest.

God will never share His glory with anyone and He will never support a man or woman that is prepared to mislead, betray and sell his own people down the river just to satisfy his vaulting and insatiable ambition of becoming President.

Yet the signs were there but you refused to acknowledge or accept them.

They refused to give you a formal position in the National Executive. They ensured that some of your key loyalists in the South West turned against you and opposed you.

They refused to accept even ONE of your Ministerial nominees both in 2015 and 2019. They humiliated your protegee who you nominated as Vice President and turned him into a pliant and pathetic little errand boy with no testicular fortitude or shame.

They drove your nominee at FIRS out of office unceremoniously and have placed him under criminal investigation.

They have divided the ranks of your loyalists and turned even your hitherto most trusted lieutenants against you.

They insulted, undermined, marginalised you openly and worse of all they made it clear to you privately that they would NEVER give you power.

All this meant nothing to you and you shamelessly continued to support their evil ways and toe their satanic and murderous line.

Yet if you did not care about what they subjected you to you ought to have at least cared about what they did to Nigeria.

For the last five years our nation and people have suffered because of the calamitious choices that you made and the inexplicable and unconciable alliances that you forged.

You propped up and supported a ruthless, heartless, corrupt, bloodthirsty and cruel regime and tyrant and a President that is clearly beside himself and whose mental and physical faculties reside in another realm and in another world.

Consequently our nation has been utterly and completely destroyed, our economy ruined and our people decimated.

They have been slaughtered, butchered, pauperised, emasculated, humiliated, marginalised, insulted and impoverished.

Hundreds of thousands of them have been murdered in cold blood in their homes, towns, villages and farms and millions have been displaced.

Millions more have been ruined and economically destroyed whilst our country remains weak, divided and the butt of cruel jokes all over the world.

Because of your choices Nigerians are being subjected to persecution, physically attacked, enslaved, humiliated, lynched, scorned, maimed, killed, disgraced, evicted and declared persona non grata both at home and in distant foreign lands whilst our foreign Embassies are being demolished by miscreants and local criminals even in supposedly friendly countries.

I sincerely hope thet one day you will reflect on all this and consider the damage you have done to your kinsmen and compatriots.

Whether you do or not is left to you but one thing that is clear: for the choices you have made, for all you have done and for the sheer wickedness and greed that resides in your insensitive and dark heart you will pay a heavy price both in this world and in the world to come and the Lord will hand you over to your political enemies.

Permit me to conclude by quoting the instructive words of a tweet that I posted just yesterday after I heard about the latest developments in your party. I wrote,

“First Oshiomole is kicked out by the Court of Appeal. Then his preferred replacement, Ajimobi, falls into a coma. Then his arch rival, Giadom, is recognised by Buhari as National Chairman.

Conclusion: it is over for Tinubu. He has been thrown under the bus and retired from politics!”

I stand by those words. Happy retirement my dearest Jagaban: may you live long to see the glory of our country restored and the damage that you have done to our people repaired. Shalom.

BREAKING NEWS - SERAP drags Nigeria’s Health Ministry, NCDC to court over COVID-19 funds

June 21, 2020 0

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a lawsuit against Osagie Ehanire, Minister of Health and Chikwe Ihekweazu, Director General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

They were sued over alleged failure to account for the public funds and other resources so far spent and used to combat the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria.

The suit FHC/ABJ/CS/616/2020 was filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja on Friday.

SERAP is seeking an order to compel the duo to publish details of the funds from federal, state governments and the private sector.

It also wants an order to compel the federal government to disclose the exact number of tests carried out for high-ranking public officials, the number of such persons in self-isolation or quarantine, as well as the number of tests carried out for the country’s poorest.

SERAP noted that Nigerians have the right to know the details of spending of COVID-19 money, as this is essential towards the fight against corruption, and will foster the development of democratic institutions and the rule of law in Nigeria.

The suit followed SERAP’s Freedom of Information (FoI) requests dated 27 March 2020 to the Minister of Health and the NCDC.

The body lamented that millions of Nigerians lack access to an improved water source and to proper sanitation, thereby making them vulnerable to COVID-19 and other illnesses.

“Yet, the Ministry of Health and the NCDC have failed and/or refused to disclose whether there is any collaborative work with the Ministry of Water Resources to provide vulnerable Nigerians with safe water, sanitation, and hygienic conditions.”

The suit filed by SERAP lawyers, Kolawole Oluwadare, Atinuke Adejuyigbe, and Opeyemi Owolabi, relied the Freedom of Information Act 2011 and the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights to which Nigeria is a state party.

The body said the government has no legally justifiable reason for refusing to provide SERAP with the information requested.

It referred to reports of lack of transparency in the use of the funds and resources being mobilised to combat coronavirus, and that authorities are prioritising home testing of politicians, with some reportedly taking multiple tests.

“The suit is in the public interest, as it bothers on issues of national interest, public welfare and interest, social justice, good governance, transparency and accountability”, SERAP added.

According to Dr. Shuaib, the acceptance now paves the way for Nigeria’s polio-free status to officially be declared in July when Ministers of Health in Africa meet.

Dr. Shuaib commended traditional and religious leaders, partners, past presidents, ministers, ED/CEOs of NPHCDA/NPI, leaders in the public health space, the media, polio victims, parents and others for being the driving force and motivation behind the efforts of the frontline workers.

He spoke on Wednesday at a virtual Extraordinary China-Africa Summit on Solidarity Against the COVID-19 co-hosted by the Forum for China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

The Nigerian leader told the summit, co-hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping, South African President and AU Chairperson Cyril Ramaphosa, and Senegal President and co-chair of FOCAC Macky Sall, that Nigeria would support and join any joint and collective action plan.

He said the fight requires enhanced cooperation and worldwide solidarity.

“We must learn lessons and share knowledge from research, as we develop more creative, responsive and humane health systems, improve crisis management protocols and support each other in the battle against COVID-19,’’ he said.

He commended the Chinese government, the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and the World Health Organization for the respective actions and measures to help developing and middle-income countries in Africa to tackle the pandemic.

The president praised the Secretary-General, for launching the COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund for low and middle-income countries to tackle the health emergency, address social and economic consequences of the crisis and, strengthen the recovery efforts of most vulnerable countries.

Buhari hailed the WHO for its advice that enabled Nigeria take measures and enlighten its people on steps to avoid contracting and spreading the virus.

He also provided an update on what his administration has done since the tragedy of the global pandemic hit the country.

Buhari said from the outset of the pandemic, Nigeria instituted strong surveillance and infection prevention as well as control measures and made provisions to strengthen its testing capacities.

He stated that several well-equipped treatment and isolation centers were set up across the country to increase bed capacity.

”In the spirit of international collaboration, medical experts in Nigeria participated by video link in learning and experience-sharing exercises organized by experts from various countries, including China”.

The President said the Nigerian Government had trained several thousand healthcare workers, provided Personal Protective Equipment to ensure the safety of frontline workers, and offered incentives for their motivation.

He added that the Federal Government created the enabling environment for farmers to safely plant and harvest during this rainy season in order to ensure that food security was not compromised.

“We took steps for prompt transportation of agricultural products and food items from rural production areas to the consumers and to industrial processing zones. We have also developed practical policies to protect lives and livelihoods”, Buhari noted

Speaking, President Xi said the summit was convened to discuss a joint response to COVID-19 and renew fraternity with Africa.

He said the world must mobilise resources and do whatever it takes to protect lives, adding that China will do whatever it can to support procurement of supplies, sending medical experts, and in other diverse ways.

Banditry: Buhari calls for calm in his home state of Katsina

June 16, 2020 0

President Muhammadu Buhari has called for calm in his home state of Katsina, assuring that security agencies were working to bring the current wave of banditry and killing to a halt.

The President also observed that violent reactions to the security by citizens could distract the plans already laid out by security agencies, assuring that security forces were capable of stemming both terrorism and banditry.

It would be recalled that youths in Katsina, last week, took to the streets in Katsina State, protesting escalating security situation..

However, in a statement issued Tuesday evening by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, the President appealed for more patience from the youths, saying the situation would soon be brought under control.

“The Presidency assures Nigerians, again, that the nation’s armed forces are fully capable of dealing with the challenges of banditry and terrorism, urging more patience as the military takes appropriate steps to block gaps being exploited to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens.

“President Muhammadu Buhari, who has approved a joint military and police operation specifically targeted at combing Niger, Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara and Sokoto States to rid the areas of bandits, assures that surveillance will be improved, with more night vision aircrafts already deployed under ‘Operation Accord’. The operation was launched three weeks ago”, the statement said.

Quoting the President directly, the statement said “Nigeria’s military has displayed its capabilities in the past and will show it again by dealing with the current challenges”.

“President Buhari appeals to the people of Katsina State to be patient and supportive of the ongoing military operations in the state, while sympathizing with those who are bereaved, injured and lost properties.

“President Buhari admonishes that taking to the streets for protest could distract the military operations, urging ‘Katsina indigenes not to give up on the military who over the years have a strong track record of quelling crises once given enough time.

“The major forests in North Western Nigeria have been identified as home to the bandits in the region. The operation will clear all these forests,’’ he further said.

Oshiomole should first apologize for deceiving Edo people - GOVERNOR WIKE

June 15, 2020 0
  • Disqualification of Obaseki, impunity carried too far
  • Wike says the Nigeria Governors Forum has become a toothless bulldog-WIKE
Gov Nyesom Ezenwo Wike - CON
Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike says the Nigeria Governors Forum has become a toothless bulldog because it has lost focus on its role in defending the rule of law in the country.

Governor Wike said the Forum used to be non-partisan and a powerful voice on national issues.

He noted that since the All Progressives Congress(APC) took over the leadership of the body in 2015, Governors have turned to beggars.

The governor made the assertion at media parley that held at Government House, Port Harcourt.

"Before 2015, the Governors Forum used to be very powerful as symbols of their respective states but APC killed it because they were protecting the interest of the ruling Party.

"During of one of the rerun elections in this state, my security aides were withdrawn thus exposing me to danger, the Forum did not say anything because the Chairman was a member of APC.

" I told them then that what they were doing was wrong. Now they have become a Beggars Forum even when there are constitutional infractions.

"You can see that APC Governors say that they are progressive. You can see how progressive they are when they keep quiet when a fellow sitting governor is disqualified from contesting elections.

" Adams Oshiomole campaigned for Governor Obaseki four years ago. The same man has turned around to say that Obaseki has a defective certificate.

"Has Oshiomole apologised to Nigerians that he supported someone with a defective certificate? Who is saying that a sitting governor has a defective certificate? Is it a man that does not have a certificate?

" Oshiomole should be told to practice what he preaches.

" APC wants to perpetrate impunity in Edo State the way they unleashed terror in Rivers State in 2019.

"They think because they have the Army, Police and INEC they can do anything and get away with it.

"They tried it in Rivers State but God gave us the will to say no. I hope Edo people will also say no to their impunity," he stated.

Speaking on Governor Obaseki's planned defection to PDP, Governor Wike said he would be happy to receive him.

He however, said that he would not guarantee automatic ticket for him because Edo people would decide.

"Edo PDP have a role to play. There is nothing like endorsement. But I must tell you that I am not happy the way he was disqualified by the APC because it will affect his integrity, "he said.

The governor debunked insinuations made by the State Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association(NMA), Dr. Obelebra Adebiyi about the State's response towards COVID-19 and said the State Government has given the Ministry of Health all that it requires to fight the pandemic.

The governor stated that the increasing number of Covid-19 cases results from more testing conducted on persons and Obelebra who is in charge of the state treatment centre cannot politicise the fight by creating unnecessary panic to score cheap political points.
