Tears as Senator Bayo Osinowo is reported dead and things to know about him

The Nigerian Senate has been thrown into mourning over the sad news of the death of Senator, Adebayo Osinowo, on Monday, June 15.

According to The Nation, the 64-year-old senator representing Lagos East senatorial district died in a hospital in Lagos. Osinowo was an active federal lawmaker on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Here are five things to know about the man popularly called Peperito:

1. Osinowo had his primary education at St. Augustin Primary School in Ijebu-Ode and his Secondary Education in Issoyin Grammar School, Isoyin.

2. In 1977, he started his career as a Land Officer at the Federal Ministry of Works till 1979 before becoming Managing Director at NITAL International from 1986 to 2003.

3. He was Managing Director at NIMCO International Co. Ltd from 1990 to 2003. He also worked as Managing Director, at Extreme Piling and Construction Company Ltd and NIMCO Dredging Company from 1990 to 2003.

4. Osinowo served as a Youth Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the Third Republic, which kickstarted his political career.

5. Osinowo was a four- time member of the Lagos State House of Assembly where he served from 1999-2015.
