Lucy is fair-skinned, has ginger straight hair and blue eyes, while Maria is dark-skinned with curly dark hair and brown eyes. The 20-year-old twins, who are from Gloucester in the UK, are so different because they are of mixed race parentage—their mother Donna is half-Jamaican while their father Vince is white.
They say their mother was so shocked when she gave birth to them because scans did not show that they had different skin colors. In an interview, Lucy said: "It was such a shock for her because things like skin colour don’t show up on scans before birth. So she had no idea that we were so different. When the midwife handed us both to her she was just speechless."
